garcia's world
Garcia
was formed by Ed and Narcoat the
beginning of 2005. The band, named Disdept at that time, started
making music influenced by bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Deus,
Helmet, Interpol, and the list goes on. Though the line-up was not
yet very consistent, the band managed to put together a solid point
of departure. First try out concert's at local venue's were well
received.
After scrutinizing the streets of Utrecht, the line-up was finally
completed and for the first time: coherent. A change of name marked
the beginning of something new. Now Garcia was really getting into
it: jamming like loose cannons and putting together rocking, sometimes
psychedelic compositions. Garcia sounds like aforementioned bands
and takes it a step further. Lately the band is experimenting with
samples as well and keeps redefining its sound. There has to be
a constant sound development. A growing number of fans seems to
agree.
Ed sung in bands like New Improved God. Toured the Netherlands,
Belgium and did a tour in Bosnia at the end of the war in Yugoslavia.
He did some stand-in gigs with Frozen Sun and was on stage with
the Awesome Dudes from Hell as supportact for Queens of the Stone
Age.
Marco was playing with Ni Hao for several years, delivered 2 cd's
and did a lot of gigs at Dutch and Italian venues. Ni Hao also played
at the famous Dynamo Open Air festival.
Sureel used to play the drums in the Awesome Dudes from Hell and
CHLEB. Played as a full time member of Orphanage. And meanwhile
joined Spoiler.
Hanno did a lot session work in The Netherlands, England, and Brazil.
After being involved with many different music styles, he has returned
to the style that made him want to be a bass guitarist in the first
place.

Popronde
is gratis toegankelijk festival dat komend najaar plaatsvindt
in 15 steden, waarbij in elke stad op ongeveer 20/30 podia (voornamelijk
cafe's) evenzoveel bands optreden. Doel van het festival is enerzijds
het publiek een overzicht te geven wat in Nederland op live-muziekgebied
gebeurt en anderzijds bands en artiesten de mogelijkheid te geven
meer te spelen buiten hun eigen regio voor nieuw publiek.

De
eerste recensie Good = Evil Single is binnen en wel van de
Aardschok niet verwacht toch gekregen. Check 'm uit of lees 'm hier.
Garcia is een Nederlands bandje dat hoge ogen gooit in het genre
stonerpop. Tenminste als alle muziek die de band maakt klinkt als
hun eerste single Good = Evil. Een supercatchy song, lekker gezongen.
Doet denken aan Monstermagnet Of Queens of the Stone Age en heeft
het simpelweg helemaal . Vast binnenkort op de wat meer alternatieve
zenders te horen. Die mogen we in onze zak steken. Dank aan Aardschok!

is if more of their material sounds like their first single, “Good
is evil”. A supercatchy song with amazing vocals. Evoking
Monster Magnet or Queens of the stone age, awesome. Soon to be all
over alternative radio.

This
formation from Utrecht consists of four guys that previously
played in many a Dutch outfit like Ni Hao, New Improved God and
Orphanage. “Good is evil” is a winner as the first single,
complete with catchy riff and hooky vocals. Referring to Faith no
more, TOOL, Helmet, NIN and Queens of the stone age this is a no-brainer.

members of sturdy-rocking GARCIA have a diverse background.
Where singer Ed (New Improved God), guitarist Marco (Ni-hao) and
drummer Sureel (Orphanage) were rocking out in their previous
outfits, bassist Hanno learned the tricks of the trade accompanying
Dutch Pop stars. The one influence that does not show in GARCIA’S
repertoire...
What the band does seem to draw from their palette are hints of
NIN, Prong, with some Helmet on the side, served on a bed of Faith
no more. First result of their efforts is the first single “Good
is evil”.
